A sprinkle of gold star dust, baby bears and honey was the simple theme of my gorgeous baby shower, hosted by four of my dearest girls - Denae, Esther, Samantha & Kaylee.
Set in the afternoon, a month before my due date, family and friends gathered to
celebrate and shower my little baby with gifts and love.
Guests were welcomed into my family home for a light hot snack and lemonade served in glass bottles, we started promptly at 14:00 PM and welcomed men to join Mr hubster at the braai area for his nappy bash, this made it convenient for couples to attend together.
Our lady guests had settled into their seats and a kiddie play area was put together by my little Sister Kaylee for all the kiddies that came along. We played two fun games - guests had to suggest names for my little one and guess the sex. A few cute and totally weird baby names were suggested, CJ Photography (Chantal) suggested the best saying Keaton for a boy and Kendra for a girl. Majority of the ladies assumed that i would have a baby girl while a few noted it is defiantly a boy. As you know from my previous post, pink or blue it really did not matter to us. A healthy little baby was all we desired.
After opening a few of the little gifts for baby it was time to tuck into the delicious treats.
The candy buffet table, simple little brown paper bags with mini saucers were placed with cutlery on the table a side for guests to help themselves, the men probably were jealous that nothing was left for them. Ladies have a real sweet tooth when it comes to goodies, I was more excited that everyone enjoyed themselves and passed beautiful compliments about my pregnancy and wished us nothing but the best for labor and parenthood.
Let's chat about the planning of a baby shower, as most of you know i am an event planner, not by profession but nature. I enjoy the creativity, arrangements, set up and mess at the end. Because it was my very own baby shower i knew i had to humble myself and allow my trusted team of Sisters to take charge of the planning.
Denae and I have grown up together since age two, she has been there for me from day one. She knows me inside out, down to the drama queen i can be. Her nature is calm and soothing to my soul, nothing worries her as she prays and communicates very well. I learned so much from her growing up and still pop her a call every day to check on her precious little baby girl Atarah - Milan born after my baby. I had complete faith and trust in Denae when she offered to take care of the baby shower, I gave her my budget and she assisted with everything.
Samantha is the decor and art specialist better known from her brand Made by Sam. You do not have to worry about fancy jars, ribbons or glitter as Sam will take care of all the essentials and she delivers to your door step. I met Sam a few years ago at my friend's wedding. Thanks to business and church events we met again and have a lovely friendship to date.
Kaylee and Esther what a blessing these two amazing young ladies after all the in-between help and admin hosted my baby shower. Seeing my sweet friend and Sister work so well arm in arm together made my heart smile. Esther is one of the most thoughtful human's i know and Kaylee is the gentle kind hearted Sister, i am more of the drama queen that she had to put up with her whole life.
All four of these ladies gave me something special that i will treasure forever, their time.
I appreciate and love them dearly, today things are so costly and as much as i budgeted towards my baby shower, there were additional goodies, hidden costs and extra admin arranged and taken care of by the team.
My mother - in - law arranged her Sister to prepare all the hot snacks at home.
My dad had agreed for us to use the family home as our venue, everything was restored by 18: 00 PM. My heart smiled that evening after we drove home, my baby was showered with love and gifts. Mr hubster & i sent thank you messages that evening via broadcast message, quick and easy too.
The very next day i was thrown a surprise baby shower by my work colleagues, this is a real surprise to me because i am a total boss when it comes to work and a complete honey on the chilled side, it left me wondering how many people know the chilled side of me, to my absolute surprise every single woman of work was present to wish me well . Thank you to Neelofar for the gorgeous shower and to each lady that attended. I cried my heart out afterwards.
